Squirrel or Badger??!!!

These are seriously two of the largest squirrels (or as my sister would say...after living in NY..."Rats..in cute outfits")!   They were so massive that, as I was trying to be at peace with this area and my camera...I was startled and thought there was a cougar in the bush!!!!  Seriously the camera cannot capture there massive size, and ferocious presence!!!   Anyways yes I was shocked that it was only a squirrel!!!

What would Freud say?....

I wish I took a photo of what it will look like when it has matured...but for now it looks like a wasp with his head deep in a search for pollen....anyone else want to provide their interpretation???

Cotton!!!

The reason for an Okanagan Allergy!!!   The cotton woods are in full blown seed mode...which means that their fluffy white 'cotton-like' puffs catch the breeze, which enables them to be blown long distances before settling anywhere an allergy may be present!  he he  ahhh chou!!

The Canadian Beaver

All the standing trees are wrapped with a thick wire that the beaver will not chew thru..however, a fallen tree is more then fair game!!!  We have had a lot of storms and ergo many fallen trees donated to the beaver!!   I was hoping to catch a glimpse...but no such luck...perhaps an early early 4:30am morning is in order!!!

Attacked!!

These poor leaves have been a delicious delight for something!!   I love the angelic way these leaves have been lead to their holy grail!!!   I love the twine tangling in the last photo....nature sure is an amazing treat to a camera lens!!!

A Forgotten path..

I have been on this path many times before....I love the peaceful aura of a boardwalk, it creeks with each step, water laps under foot, birds and chipmunks chirp, squirrels FLY! and  baby ducks mahhhh (seriously...) ...I have not ever seen it this overrun, also, this beautiful.......

A bright blue/green

They always say that in the animal world the male is the more beautifully coloured one!...notice I say animal...Human's are so much more...well we all know!!!    I love that I flip flopped across a female mallard tail feather....and then this guy...so cute!!  Is it just me...or does it look like this guy is having a really good day!!!!

A Stunning Beak

I know this duck has got a lot of time...however, it is very rare that I can get so close without being beaked!! ;-)   I love her colours, agility and patience...with me!...As you can tell with the last one it was time to go!!

Webbed Foot!

Wouldn't it be amazing...

Contortionist

Contortion (sometimes contortionism) is an unusual form of physical display which involves the dramatic bending and flexing of the body.

A duck...is a great display of this feat!!   This female Mallard let me get extremely close as she washed herself!  I have never had the chance to get this close....and see the ridges in the mouth of a duck!   Enjoy!

Beach Treasures

I love a good beach find!  Colours always manage to catch your eye against the sand...here are a few of my bright finds!!
I also love the nut shell that looks like a snout!!

A Driftwood Fort

I decided to take a break from house design... and head off in search of some photos...I wanted to head to the flower garden, but regretfully did not grab my new macro lens during my rush for the door.  So I decided to head for the bird sanctuary instead.  Which I'm glad I did, the flower garden can wait until tomorrow ;-)

The entrance to the bird sanctuary is the beach and that is where I happened to find this driftwood fort complete with its own worm made hieroglyphs.

Our Fruit

Our Okanagan Fruit...our peaches are ripening nicely and the last picture is of our Asain Pears....they still have a long way to go!

The Yellow Canary

These beautiful little birds always visit our neighbours bird feeder.  I love how they hang upside down to eat their seeds.
